General Cancer Hospital “Agioi Anargyroi”: How the anesthesiologist’s actions were exposed
A close family member, speaking to Live News, explained how the anesthesiologist’s actions were exposed.
“This man came in to inform us that we would go for surgery. That’s when he started saying that for the first surgery we were second in priority and that it was difficult, they had already started and would take us later,” he said characteristically.
“He left, but we understood that he would ask us for some money. I had prepared my phone and after five minutes he returned and what happened happened. He told us that if we don’t pay, we’ll go later. I agreed, I was more afraid for my person, in case he does something in there. I couldn’t say I don’t have it,” he added.
“We proceeded afterwards, a stretcher came. I said I would be paid on the 28th of the month, I lied that I work for the municipality. That’s where we ended up. I said it so nothing would happen during the surgery,” he mentioned on the Mega show.
Georgiadis: “An act that exploits human suffering”
The Health Minister in a post on platform X emphasized that necessary actions are being taken so that this specific doctor is removed from the NHS.
“A little while ago they sent me an unacceptable video that was posted on social media by a patient who recorded an anesthesiologist while he was asking her for 100-150€ to do what he is obligated to provide free to every patient. From the investigation I immediately ordered, both the hospital and the person were identified. I also ordered the hospital administration to proceed immediately with all legal actions, so that this person is removed from the NHS. I detest bribes, an act that exploits human pain and has nothing to do with the values we serve in the NHS. I am very sorry and I apologize to the patient.”
