New evidence emerges about the fatal car accident in Rhodes, where 56-year-old Maria and her 26-year-old daughter Armonia lost their lives. An eyewitness who has already testified to authorities claims that the 44-year-old BMW driver ran a red light moments before the devastating collision. Speaking on Live News, the young man said that at the time of the accident, he was heading to work with three other people when they saw the 44-year-old’s vehicle moving at very high speed. At the same time, according to his testimony, the car driven by the 56-year-old woman passed through the intersection on a green light, just seconds before the fatal collision that cost the lives of mother and daughter.

“The accident happened around 2:35 PM. The BMW clearly ran the red light, we all saw it. It ran the red light and was definitely going over the speed limit. I think the limit is 80 and it was going I’d say 120-140, it was going too fast to be able to react in time. The women turned on green, they were driving normally, they did nothing wrong. They saw the green light and passed, but they couldn’t react because the other car was going too fast. Police arrived in 10 minutes, the ambulance in 15-20, so there was no chance of survival,” Mac told Mega’s camera.
Rhodes: anger over 44-year-old released from custody
Friends who knew 56-year-old Maria and her 26-year-old daughter Armonia express anger and pain over the decision to release the 44-year-old driver involved in the fatal car accident in Rhodes. “Two lives were lost and he’s out there. They’re in the ground,” family friends tell protothema.gr, unable to cope with the magnitude of the tragedy.
The 26-year-old daughter, Armonia, according to people who knew her, was a girl full of dreams, sensitivity and love for life. She had deeply loved nature, mountains and Mount Olympus, while those who knew her speak of a soul full of kindness and light.
A friend of the two women shares a heartbreaking public farewell to Armonia and her mother with words that tear at the heart: “My own Armonia… how beautifully your name suited you. Despite all the pain you carried for so many years, you always managed to spread harmony, love and color around you,” she writes.
“Life never treated you as you deserved…”
The friend describes the last moments they spent together, the dreams they made for the future, and the strength that the 26-year-old hid within herself despite the difficulties she had experienced from a young age. She even refers to the unjust death of her father ten years ago and Armonia’s attempt to get back on her feet and find her smile again.
“Life never treated you as you deserved,” she writes in one of the most heartbreaking parts of the post, attributing her friend’s death to “the recklessness of a person who was speeding without thinking that he could destroy lives.”
Her words capture the heavy atmosphere that prevails in Rhodes over the two women. Armonia and her mother Maria left together within seconds, leaving behind people who loved them deeply, and as their friends try to cope with the loss, anger over the case’s development grows daily.
“I will continue to dream for both of us,” writes the friend of 26-year-old Armonia at the end.

Armonia’s friend’s post
“My own Armonia…
How beautifully your name suited you. Despite all the pain you carried for so many years, you always managed to spread harmony, love and color around you. Just like you loved to do in your paintings.
I still can’t believe I’m writing these words about you. A few days ago we were having drinks together, laughing, talking as if we had our whole lives ahead of us. Five days ago we spent my entire day off together, like always… like sisters. We went for a walk, had our morning coffee, ate together, did such simple things yet now they seem the most precious in the world. And the last time I saw you, you were so full of life… full of yourself.
We sat and made plans for our dreams. We talked about the future, about everything we would achieve together. You had so much strength inside you, so much will to live, to move forward, to build the life you deserved. After everything you went through, you had finally started to get back on your feet.
But life never treated you as you deserved. You lost your dad so unfairly ten years ago and since then you carried burdens that few people could bear. Yet you never gave up. No matter how much people hurt you, no matter how much life fought against you, you continued. And this past year you had started to shine again. The last image I have of you is your little curls, your beautiful face and that sparkle in your eyes. You were so beautiful. So bright. Like you were being reborn.
And you came to Rhodes because you felt the need to see us. As if your soul wanted to spend a little more time with those you truly loved.
I can’t fit in my mind how you left like this. In an instant. From the recklessness of a person who was speeding without thinking that he could destroy lives. You and your mom left together… and that’s perhaps the only thing that comforts me a little. That you weren’t alone. That you held her hand and flew together high, away from a world that hurt you so much.
This world didn’t deserve you. It was too harsh for souls like yours. Down here it often seems like hell. But you were made for something more peaceful. For places full of light, colors and tranquility.
And now I’m trying to understand how life continues when you lose people who were part of your soul. The day before yesterday I lost my little dog and yesterday I learned I lost you too. I feel like I’ve lost the ground under my feet. But in all this pain, I hold onto our moments. Our walks, our coffees, our laughter, our dreams, all those small everyday things that turned out to be the biggest.
And I promise you something, my Armonia…
I will continue to dream for both of us.
I will always carry a piece of you inside me.
And every time I see colors in the sky, I will think that somewhere up there you’re painting again. Free now. Without pain. Only with light. Hold your mom’s hand and fly together high, away from this world, you left together for a reason and I’m sure that there your souls will find peace and you will be well…
Thank you for teaching me how to be strong in a world that rots
I will love you forever my little bug ❤️”.
