“From the very first moment, the four police officers should have been prosecuted for the murder of my daughter,” states Despoina Kallea to parapolitika.gr, mother of 28-year-old Kyriaki Griva, who was murdered by her ex-partner in April 2024 outside the Agioi Anargyroi police station.
Ms. Kallea, commenting on prosecutor Theodora Bibikou’s proposal to prosecute the four police officers, says: “The videos that came to light from Kyriaki’s murder should have awakened the prosecutor from the first moment to do her duty, because it’s crystal clear what exactly happened.”
Kyriaki Griva’s mother: I have doubts about justice but my morale has been lifted
“Even now, I have doubts that there will be justice, but better late than never. My morale has been lifted and I hope someone will finally be punished. Because to this day, even the murderer remains unpunished and is in a psychiatric facility. I see all those responsible for my daughter’s death living their lives freely and it enrages me,” adds Ms. Kallea, emphasizing that “justice for me will be seeing all those responsible sit in the dock and be punished. I don’t accept any apology from anyone – they simply had to do their duty and help the citizen, regardless of who that person is.”
It should be noted that in her 75-page proposal, the prosecutor charges the four police officers with the offense of fatal exposure by omission of duty, arguing that 28-year-old Kyriaki sought protection in a space that “constitutes a guarantee of safety for citizens who seek refuge in it,” but never received it.
