Residents of Drnis, a small town in Croatia, are in shock after a horrific crime occurred on Sunday night (May 17), when a pizza delivery driver was shot and killed with ten bullets by a customer during a food delivery. Authorities have launched a manhunt to arrest the suspect, who according to police, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for murder.
Croatia: Pizza delivery driver murdered with ten bullets
A manhunt is underway by authorities to arrest a suspect who allegedly shot and killed a 19-year-old pizza delivery driver with ten bullets on Sunday night (May 17) in the town of Drnis, Croatia, according to a serbiantimes.info report. As noted, the suspect allegedly terrorized the local community for years and had even said he planned to kill everyone, while he had created a related list. According to the report, the suspect, Kristian Aleksits, a 50-year-old man with a criminal record for murder, continues to evade capture and is considered “possibly armed.”
As emphasized, the murder of the unfortunate delivery driver occurred after midnight on Sunday. It is noted that the young man was killed with an improvised weapon, according to initial findings, but as the report claims, there is a version that is considered credible and states that in reality, Aleksits shot the delivery driver with 10 bullets.
Restaurant owner offered to make the delivery because it was late
As noted in the report, when the order was placed after midnight, the store owner offered to make the delivery himself because it was late, however the delivery driver and a colleague said they would do it themselves. In fact, the delivery driver’s colleague was the one who notified authorities after managing to escape from the murder scene.
Authorities on the trail of the suspect in the delivery driver’s murder
Authorities have launched a manhunt to locate the suspect, with a large number of police officers, including special units deployed in the area, supported by helicopters, drones and search dogs.
“Unfortunately, we have not yet managed to find the perpetrator, but we are mobilizing all the resources we have at our disposal,” Croatian police chief Nikola Milina said at a press conference in Drnis. He confirmed that the suspect had previously been sentenced to 15 years in prison for murder.
Suspect terrorized the community for years – “I will kill you all”
According to the report, the small town of Drnis, about 30 kilometers south of Zagreb, with a population of 6,000 residents, lived under a reign of fear, as the suspect allegedly said he would “kill the entire town” and had even made a list of people he planned to kill. In fact, a local resident said that the suspect’s own brother called him the “embodiment of evil.”
The town’s mayor said that “this is a huge shock for our town, which is usually a quiet place. We don’t understand how such a horrific crime could happen here.” At the same time, residents were urged to stay in their homes and remain vigilant, while schools and kindergartens will remain closed on Monday (18/5) until Aleksits is arrested, whose photograph has been shared across all channels.
