US President Donald Trump is expected to decide “within the next few hours” whether to resume military operations against Iran. As consultations to end the conflict and address Iran’s nuclear program have yet to yield results, different scenarios are being considered, including the possibility of new strikes. Meanwhile, Israel is monitoring developments, awaiting final decisions from the American side.

The tycoon warned Iran that it will face a “very difficult period” if a peace agreement is not reached soon. “It’s in their interest to reach an agreement,” he told French television station BFMTV.
Trump’s threatening post
In the early hours of Sunday, May 17th, Trump posted on Truth Social an AI-generated image with the caption “it was calm before the storm.” The photograph shows Trump surrounded by warships amid turbulent seas and a storm.

Israel: “We are ready, waiting for Trump’s decision”
Reuters also reported that Trump stated he is “losing patience” with Iran and implied that new military action remains possible if diplomatic efforts fail. At the same time, according to official statements, Israel’s military is on standby for potential operations against Tehran.
On Friday, an Israeli official acknowledged that “for several weeks” the military has been preparing for conflict and “we are awaiting Trump’s final decision.”
The official, speaking to Channel 12, noted that military action is necessary because “now the Americans understand that negotiations with Iran are leading nowhere.”
Iran plans to impose fees at Strait of Hormuz
Meanwhile, the head of Iran’s parliamentary national security committee announced a mechanism to control traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
While stating that more details will be revealed soon, it became known that fees will be collected for “specialized services” provided within the framework of this mechanism.
