A wreath was laid at the Kaisariani memorial on Labor Day morning by a delegation from Course of Freedom party, led by party president Zoe Konstantopoulou. In her statement, Ms. Konstantopoulou noted that “today is a day of remembrance, honor and pride. The 200 of Kaisariani, our ancestors, the people who with a proud, determined, dignified gaze walked towards death and did not betray their homeland, their principles and their values, are those to whom we owe our freedom. We honor the heroes of the Resistance. We honor the two hundred of Kaisariani and we do not forget that Greece, the Greek people, paid a heavy price in blood for the Resistance. Because our ancestors did not bow their heads”.

The president of Course of Freedom emphasized that “it is our sacred obligation to remember them. To remind the new generations and young children that where we find ourselves is not by chance, but we are here thanks to the heroic struggles of people who defied dangers, defied death and bequeathed to us the most proud legacy, the legacy of freedom. We do not forget that we have a debt to these people. We have a debt to ourselves, to the present and the future, to claim uncompromisingly the payment of German war debts, the compliance of the German state with the obligation to compensate and restore for the international crimes that the Nazis committed against our country, against our people”.
“We honor the Resistance, we honor the two hundred of Kaisariani, we honor Labor Day of ’44. We remember, we claim, we struggle. And in the end, freedom always wins”, said Ms. Konstantopoulou, concluding her statement.
