US military forces conducted a new boarding operation against a tanker allegedly linked to Iran and included on the “black list” of American sanctions. The incident comes just 24 hours after the seizure of the tanker “M/V Tifani” in the Indo-Pacific region. The US Department of Defense released footage and video today, Thursday 23/04, from the boarding operation of the tanker “M/V Majestic X” in the Indian Ocean.

“During the night, American forces conducted a maritime interdiction and inspection by boarding the flagless vessel M/T Majestic X, which is subject to sanctions and was transporting oil from Iran, in the Indian Ocean within the INDOPACOM area of responsibility,” stated the US military command for the Indo-Pacific region, according to the American Department of Defense.
“We will continue to conduct global maritime enforcement operations to disrupt illicit networks and intercept vessels providing material support to Iran, wherever they operate,” added the American Pentagon.
Revolutionary Guards attacks on three ships in the Strait of Hormuz
The seizure of another tanker linked to Iran comes one day after attacks by the Revolutionary Guards on three ships in the Strait of Hormuz, including a Greek-owned vessel, the “Epaminondas”.
Ship tracking data showed the M/V Majestic X was located in the Indian Ocean between Sri Lanka and Indonesia, approximately in the same location where the oil tanker M/V Tifani was found when it was seized by the Americans on Tuesday (21.04.2026) and was bound for Zhoushan, China.
The M/V Majestic X is an oil tanker flying the Guyanese flag and was previously named Phonix. It had been sanctioned by the US Treasury Department in 2024 for smuggling Iranian crude oil in violation of American sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
Overnight, U.S. forces carried out a maritime interdiction and right-of-visit boarding of the sanctioned stateless vessel M/T Majestic X transporting oil from Iran, in the Indian Ocean within the INDOPACOM area of responsibility.
