“We do not seek war,” the message sent by Iran’s president, Masoud Pezeshkian, who calls for dialogue and emphasizes that any attempt by the US to impose their will or force Tehran to surrender is destined to fail. Speaking at a meeting with officials from the Iranian capital’s emergency services, Pezeshkian stated that Tehran does not seek war or instability. Instead, the Iranian president noted that “Iran has always emphasized the need for constructive talks and interactions with various countries.”
“What justification exists for targeting civilians, elites, children, and destroying vital centers, including schools and hospitals, within the framework of international law and humanitarian principles?” Pezeshkian added.
Trump on potential deal with Iran by end of April
Donald Trump stated that it is “very likely” that a deal with Iran could be reached by the time of the British king’s visit to the US later this month. In an interview with Sky News US correspondent Mark Stone, when asked about the possibility of an agreement by the end of April, Trump said: “It’s likely. Very likely. They’ve taken a serious hit. It’s very likely.”
Meanwhile, the US president told a New York Post reporter who had traveled to Islamabad for the first round of ceasefire talks over the weekend that it would be good for her to remain in Pakistan’s capital. After an interview where the prospects of negotiations with Iran were discussed, the reporter mentioned that Trump called her again “to update her.”
“You should stay there, really, because something might happen in the next two days, and we are more willing to go there,” Trump said. He added that Pakistan’s army chief, General Asim Munir, did an “excellent job” organizing the talks.
