The health condition of the 14-year-old boy who was seriously injured by a firecracker early Sunday evening on Easter Sunday in Menidi square, behind the church of Agios Vlasios, appears optimistic. The 14-year-old’s brother spoke to parapolitika.gr, emphasizing that he doesn’t have a clear picture of who provided the minor with the firecracker, while describing his brother’s health condition as he receives treatment at “Agia Sofia” Children’s Hospital.
“My brother had never handled such things before. His friends told me he went into a field and found the ‘pig’ firecracker. They told me he lit it and tried to throw more gunpowder on top. My parents and I are very upset. He’s in the hospital and has broken a bone in three places. They told us it has healed well and his arm has been stretched. He will undergo some treatments and if he doesn’t recover completely, there will be another surgery. I’m going to the hospital now to bring him some clothes,” the young man said, providing a window of optimism that his brother’s injury will not leave a permanent problem with the young man’s arm functionality.
