Easter exodus: long queues at Elefsina and Malgara toll stations
Massive kilometer-long queues formed by thousands of vehicles appeared this Good Friday morning at the Elefsina and Malgara toll stations, with drivers moving at very low speeds due to exceptionally heavy traffic. According to Attica Traffic Police, the situation at Elefsina toll stations has improved, however a steady flow of vehicles continues in the outbound direction, while it is estimated that tomorrow, Holy Saturday, there will be a smaller vehicle flow compared to today.
According to police, from Holy Tuesday until today at noon, approximately 320,000 vehicles have passed through Afidnes and Elefsina. Traffic Police remain on full alert, emphasizing safe driving and reminding that until 4 PM, trucks over 3.5 tons are prohibited from circulating on major road networks.
A similar situation prevails at Malgara toll stations, where by 2:30 PM approximately 14,000 vehicles had passed, while from Holy Thursday until today the total number reaches 40,000. Traffic has decreased compared to morning hours, however it is estimated that another 20,000 vehicles will head outbound until Good Friday night.
Increased activity at bus stations and ports ahead of Easter
It should be noted that popular destinations for Northern Greece travelers include Thessaly, Western Macedonia, and Igoumenitsa, with many having Corfu as their final destination.

At bus stations, occupancy reaches 100%, even on emergency routes, while traffic is also increased at ports, with ships departing at high capacity to the Saronic Gulf and Cyclades islands.
The Coast Guard and Traffic Police have taken all necessary measures for the smooth operation of routes and passenger convenience.
