Today (11/03) at 6:00 PM the deadline expires for submitting applications for the child benefit, while the platform has been operational since February 27.

Interested parties can submit their application either through the IDIKA platform or from the OPEKA website using their Taxisnet codes. The eligible amount will be calculated based on dependent children declared in the A21 application for 2026 and the total family income that beneficiaries had in the 2024 tax year.
Child benefit: Application deadline expires – What to watch out for
It is noted that among the prerequisites that will be checked for granting the child benefit are:
- attendance of dependent children in compulsory education – from pre-kindergarten to gymnasium – as well as adequate attendance.
In the A21 application, the following must be entered in the relevant fields:
- school unit details,
- the grade and registry number of the child attending compulsory education.
If all student details are cross-referenced successfully, the application can proceed normally. If they are not cross-referenced, a relevant notice appears and the applicant is asked to attach the necessary supporting document to the electronic A21 application.
It’s worth noting that an important step before submitting the application is filing a tax return (E1), since the benefit is calculated based on dependent children declared in the last cleared return.
Attention: To complete the application, it must be definitively submitted and approved. An application that has been temporarily saved is considered not submitted and is not taken into account.
How to make the application
Following the steps below, you can find out if you are eligible for the child benefit:
Step 1 – E1 submission and A21 application
The benefit is calculated based on dependent children declared in the 2025 A21 and according to the last cleared tax return. However, so that beneficiaries know the correct amount of their benefit for 2025 and to avoid accumulation of unduly paid amounts, it is recommended to submit an income tax return-E1 for the current year (2024 income). Payment of the child benefit installment that will be made after the current year’s E1 submission deadline expires will include only those applicants who have submitted the current year’s tax return.
Step 2 – Login
Enter the application with your TaxisNet credentials by clicking the link that follows the instructions. Upon entering the system, you will be asked to confirm your Social Security Number and consent to processing the required data, namely your own, your spouse’s or civil partner’s, and your dependent children’s.
Step 3 – Consent
After login, a form will appear where you must select your current family status. Married and separated individuals must enter their spouse’s tax number and Social Security Number. Carefully read the text regarding Consent for Child Benefits and click [Consent] (to begin completing and submitting the child benefit application-declaration A21).
Step 4 – Application completion
The child benefit application will contain pre-filled personal information and family composition. Some application fields must be completed by you, such as identity details, address and contact information, as well as the IBAN to which you are entitled or co-entitled for benefit payment.
Step 5 – Family composition
The child benefit application includes a table with your family composition. For some members, additional details may be required, such as student information. Clicking [Change Details] will direct you to the member’s details form where you will enter and record supplementary information. If one of the children should not participate in the application, you must delete the child. Additionally, if a member is not included in your pre-filled family composition, you must add a child. The same list contains relevant information next to the name of the person who may need to consent to the benefit. For their consent, connection to the application with their own TaxisNet details is required.
Step 6 – Notices & supporting documents
When saving or submitting the application, the system may display notices at the bottom of the form with important information regarding the application. You may be asked to attach supporting documents concerning you or a dependent member. Some documents are mandatory for submitting the child benefit application.
Step 7 – Registration and submission
At the bottom of the application you can click [Save] or [Submit]. With saving, the application is temporarily registered in the system and you can return later one or more times to complete additional member details or attach required supporting documents. After final submission, modification will not be possible. Verification of attached documents is done by OPEKA only after final application submission. Note that a non-finalized application is not considered submitted and will not be processed.
Application cancellation
If after submitting the application you discover an error, you can cancel it by clicking [My Applications] / [View] / [Cancel Application] and then initiate a new child benefit application-declaration (A21). When completion is finished, it must be definitively submitted. If you cancel your application and do not definitively submit a new one, any amount received based on the cancelled application will be considered unduly paid.
