Out-of-court Settlement Mechanism: 38,567 settlements achieved
The June data confirms once again that the expansion of income and asset thresholds, implemented since May, combined with recent legislative improvements to the Out-of-court Settlement framework, leads to sustainable settlements and effectively covers the middle class. The significant contribution of the Out-of-court Settlement Mechanism to private debt restructuring is clearly reflected in the official figures: to date, 38,567 settlements have been achieved, covering total initial debts of 12.7 billion euros.
Additionally, in June, 3,965 vulnerable households and 155 disabled debtors benefited from debt settlements according to the established mandatory provisions, while 222 debtors managed to suspend scheduled auctions by using the advance payment measure.
Bilateral settlements with servicers
Meanwhile, the positive trend continues in bilateral loan settlements with the 4 largest Financial Institutions (Intrum, Cepal, DoValue, Qquant). In May, successful settlements worth 0.5 billion euros were completed, corresponding to 6,000 debtors. It is noted that 41% of these settlements concern mortgage loans. At the same time, the approval rate has soared to 83.7%.
Finally, it should be noted that, with the aim of more effective utilization of available debt settlement tools, the General Secretariat of Financial Sector and Private Debt Management provides nationwide service through video calls or telephone, by appointment, through the platform (https://www.gov.gr/ipiresies/polites–kai–kathemerinoteta/ex–apostaseos–exuperetese–politon/exuperetese–me–telediaskepse–kai–telephonike–epikoinonia–apo–ten–eidike–grammateia–diakheirises–idiotikou–khreous–egdikh) or by phone at 213.212.5730.
