Taxi drivers in Attica are pulling the handbrake for three days, as they have announced a strike from Tuesday, February 17 through Friday, February 20. It should be noted that taxi drivers in the rest of the country will strike for two days, specifically on Wednesday, February 18 and Thursday, February 19.
Taxi strike: SATA announcement – Detailed mobilization schedule
Following the sector council meeting held yesterday in Athens and the decision by the Panhellenic Taxi Federation which announced a 48-hour strike for Wednesday, February 18 and Thursday, February 19, the Administrative Council of the Attica Taxi Drivers Union (SATA) convened today. It decided by majority vote:
A. Three-day taxi strike in Attica, from Tuesday, February 17, 2026 (from 6:00 a.m.) through Friday, February 20 (at 6:00 a.m.).
B. Indefinite strike (from the discussion of the bill in parliamentary committees until its vote in the plenary) if the demands submitted by SATA are not satisfied.
Mobilization schedule:
Tuesday, February 17: Rally at 10:00 a.m. at the intersection of Sp. Patsi and L. Athinon. Followed by a protest march to the Ministry of Transport.
Wednesday, February 18: Rally at 11:00 a.m. at the intersection of Antigonis and L. Athinon and march to Eleftherios Venizelos Airport.
Thursday, February 19: Rally at SATA offices at 10:30 a.m. and march (without cars) to Maximos Mansion.
Main demands:
– Extension of the mandatory transition to electric vehicles.
– Immediate withdrawal of Article 52 of the omnibus bill, which fatally harms the sector.
All regulations contained in it scandalously favor rental cars with drivers (private hire vehicles). SATA demands that these provisions not be included in the final text to be submitted to Parliament.
– General criminal background checks for issuing and renewing special taxi driver licenses.
SATA emphasizes in all directions that taxi drivers refuse to become victims of government experiments. We call on all colleagues to participate massively to defend our rights and the future of our profession!
