The confrontation between Donald Trump and Europe over Greenland is not expected to obstruct upcoming agreements between the United States and European countries, according to US Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle.
Her statement carries particular weight, as she has recently focused on strengthening commitments from Greece and other European states to purchase American liquefied natural gas (LNG), as highlighted by Axios. According to the report, Greece is rapidly emerging as a crucial gateway for American LNG into Europe, signing significant long-term agreements aimed at replacing Russian natural gas and strengthening energy security in the broader region, including Ukraine, Romania and other countries.
Guilfoyle: “If you have to choose between cooperating with Trump or Putin, the choice is clear”
Speaking at Axios House in Davos, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum, Guilfoyle emphasized that new agreements with European states should be expected, which may be announced in early February. “Any day of the week, if you have to choose between cooperating with the United States of America and President Trump or with Russia and Vladimir Putin, the choice is clear,” she stated characteristically.
In response to a related question, Kimberly Guilfoyle categorically rejected the possibility that Donald Trump would use natural gas supplies as leverage, similar to tariff threats. “I don’t believe for one second that President Trump would ever proceed with something like that. Without any doubt, absolutely not,” she declared.
As Axios notes, Guilfoyle emphasized that her work around LNG and specifically the agreements calculated in BCM, meaning billions of cubic meters, absorbs most of her daily routine. “That’s what I do all day. I talk about BCM,” she said characteristically.
