Emphasizing issues concerning good neighborly relations and resolving long-standing disputes, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced that a meeting between Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Kyriakos Mitsotakis will take place in February.
Hakan Fidan emphasized “let’s permanently solve the Aegean problem, issues such as territorial waters, continental shelf, let’s put foreign policy issues in parentheses.”
It should be noted that the “Big Mouth” column had previously reported that a Mitsotakis-Erdogan meeting was expected within February. “Gerapetritis and Fidan searched for and found two dates in the calendar that precede February 17th, when Ramadan begins. Mitsotakis and Erdogan will meet (certainly) within February, with an agenda to be determined in the coming days,” it was specifically written.
A few days ago, during the telephone communication between the Foreign Ministers of Greece and Turkey, Messrs. Gerapetritis and Fidan, it was said that a meeting between Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Recep Tayyip Erdogan is expected in the near future.
Hakan Fidan on Iran and the USA
The Turkish Foreign Minister simultaneously opposed any potential US attack on Iran.
“Turkey hopes that problems in Syria can be resolved peacefully, but if not, I see the use of force by the Syrian government as an option,” Fidan stated regarding the pro-Kurdish SDF forces.
