Police are facing what appears to be a domestic violence incident following reports of the abduction of a woman by two vehicle passengers in central Athens. The woman works as an employee at an electronics store between Exarchia Square and Patission Street. She and her partner allegedly had an intense argument. Earlier today at noon, a car suddenly stopped outside the store. Her partner and another friend of his were in the vehicle. The young man went to the shop and forcibly put his girlfriend into the car, which then sped away and disappeared.
Neighbors and colleagues of the girl immediately notified emergency services, who discovered that the couple had gotten off on Acharnon Street, where they were later located after searches. The vehicle’s driver has not yet been located, while the couple has been taken to the Domestic Violence unit at the Omonia Police Station where charges are currently being filed against the unfortunate woman’s partner. In his possession, police found a replica weapon. The abduction victim is in good health and is giving testimony to authorities about how the incident occurred.
