US Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle visited the Metropolis of Thessaloniki on Friday, December 5, and met with Metropolitan Philotheos. The meeting, which according to the Metropolis’s social media post took place in a warm atmosphere, was attended by US Consul General in Thessaloniki Jerry Ismail alongside Ambassador Guilfoyle.

The Metropolitan of Thessaloniki wished Ambassador Guilfoyle success in her new duties, discussed topics of mutual interest and presented the metropolis’s initiatives, while a ceremonial exchange of gifts took place. Subsequently, the ambassador and members of her delegation visited the Holy Church of Saint Demetrius, where they received a guided tour and briefing about the church’s history and the sacred relics housed within, while Ambassador Guilfoyle was presented with an icon of Saint Demetrius, patron saint of Thessaloniki.

On Friday, December 5, the US Ambassador, Ms. Kimberly Guilfoyle, visited the Holy Metropolis of Thessaloniki, accompanied by Mr. Jerry Ismail, US Consul General in Thessaloniki, and senior staff from the US Embassy in Athens.
The Ambassador received a warm welcome from our Shepherd, Metropolitan Philotheos of Thessaloniki, with whom she engaged in cordial discussions.
The official meeting was attended on behalf of the Holy Metropolis by the Protosynkellos, Fr. Iakovos Athanassiou, the General Archiepiscopal Commissioner, Fr. Fotios Zarzavatsákis, the General Secretary, Fr. Nikolaos Chamamtzoglou, and the head of the Private Office, Mr. Konstantinos Konstantinakis.
