The conviction of each of the four perpetrators that they would escape the “heist of the century” at the Louvre Museum, when they stole royal jewelry from Napoleon’s era, lasted a total of 37 days. On the 37th day, according to BFMTV information, followed and confirmed by reports from the newspaper “Le Parisien”, the fourth and final suspect was arrested by Paris authorities. Thus, the story of the theft that lasted seven minutes and constituted a stigma for museum security as well as the general ethos that should inspire the integrity of cultural creation, came to an end.
Only one remained, as the other three had been arrested over the past period. Two, Agent G. and Abdoulaye N., were likely betrayed by DNA investigations and located. One, Slimane K., allegedly drove one of the two motorcycles with which the four thieves of jewelry worth 88 million euros escaped. Thus, the alleged fourth member of the group was arrested.
Louvre Museum: Strict security measures
After the theft at the Louvre Museum, on the morning (9:30-9:40 French time) of Sunday, October 19, security measures were increased. It’s noted that the section with ancient Greek exhibits was also affected. That morning the thieves even used a crane to enter the “Apollo” gallery and take, with relative ease, the royal jewelry.
