Israeli authorities were put on high alert after a pilot from Bulgarian airline Electra Airways, operating a flight from Warsaw to Tel Aviv, accidentally activated a hijacking signal. The captain confirmed there was no actual security incident and that the signal was triggered by human error. Nevertheless, Israeli Air Force fighter jets were scrambled as per standard protocol.

Hijack alert on Tel Aviv flight: Pilot requested emergency landing in Cyprus
Israeli authorities decided to divert the aircraft, which had 180 passengers on board. The pilot requested permission to land in Cyprus, but the request was denied. The aircraft was ultimately redirected to Sofia. According to Israeli authorities, there is no indication that this was a genuine security incident.
