Donald Trump announced that Iran has requested a meeting with the United States, which, according to him, is scheduled to take place on Tuesday in Doha, Qatar. In a post on his Truth Social platform, the U.S. president wrote: “Iran has requested a meeting. It will take place tomorrow in Doha.” Trump’s envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will attend a scheduled meeting with Iran in Doha, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed.
“Special Envoy Witkoff and Jared Kushner will travel to Doha for high-level meetings this week as we continue discussions on the memorandum of understanding. Alongside these high-level talks, technical discussions will also be held,” Leavitt stated in an interview with Fox News.
Iran’s foreign ministry issues a denial
At the same time, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is denying that the two countries’ technical teams will meet in the coming days to discuss the implementation of an agreement aimed at ending their conflict. “No technical working group meetings have been scheduled for this week,” said Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, according to state television.
