French authorities have been put on high alert following the crash of a small civilian aircraft on a road in the town of Tomblaine, in northeastern France, on Sunday, June 28, at approximately 11:00 AM local time (12:00 PM Greek time).
France: Crashed aircraft was carrying a group of skydivers
The aircraft had taken off earlier that morning from Nancy Airport, carrying a group of approximately ten skydivers who were set to complete a training jump, according to initial reports.
So far, authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances of the accident, nor have they confirmed the exact number of passengers on board or their condition — however, reports of casualties have begun to emerge.
A significant emergency response has been deployed to the scene, which has been cordoned off. The regional prefect is expected to hold a press conference at the crash site.
