The incident took place near Bedford, between London’s St Pancras station and Leicester, triggering an immediate emergency response, according to a statement from East Midlands Railway. Sources report that both East Midlands Railway trains were nearly full when they collided. The incident is believed to have occurred at approximately 5:15 PM, involving a service running between London St Pancras and Luton Airport, and a second train operating the route from Corby to St Pancras.

According to the same reports, the train had passed through Bedford approximately five minutes earlier before rear-ending a service that had departed Nottingham at 3:50 PM, also bound for St Pancras.
The collision caused several passengers to be thrown from their seats or knocked to the floor of the carriages, with reports of injuries and people bleeding. The precise condition and full extent of the injuries have not yet been officially confirmed.
According to The Sun, numerous ambulances rushed to the scene, while a significant police presence has been deployed as part of the emergency response. The Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that crews are on the ground and urged the public to avoid the area until further notice.
