US Vice President JD Vance will not be traveling to Switzerland on Thursday evening as originally planned to attend the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Iran. A White House spokesperson clarified that the technical talks set to follow the agreement have not yet been finalized, creating uncertainty over the timeline for next steps. “As the Vice President noted during the press conference, the scheduling of the upcoming technical talks remains open. The American delegation was ready to depart immediately, but organizing such negotiations is by nature complex and often unpredictable,” the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson made clear that JD Vance will not be departing for Switzerland at this time. “The Vice President is not leaving tonight. We will update you as soon as there is a concrete development regarding next steps. We look forward to beginning the technical talks as soon as possible,” they added.
The official signing ceremony for the memorandum of understanding had been scheduled for Friday in Switzerland, with the US Vice President in attendance.
