A total of six airspace violations were recorded on Tuesday (16/6) over the Aegean Sea by Turkish military aircraft, according to data released by the Hellenic National Defence General Staff. Specifically, two formations of Turkish F-16s, consisting of four fighter jets in total, along with one unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), entered the Athens Flight Information Region (FIR), bringing the total number of recorded Turkish aircraft to five. Of the four F-16s, two were armed.
According to official data, four additional violations of air traffic rules were also recorded within the Athens FIR, two of which were attributed to the F-16s and the remaining two to the UAV. The incidents were recorded over the southeastern and central Aegean Sea. As stated in the Hellenic National Defence General Staff announcement, the Turkish aircraft were identified and intercepted in accordance with international rules and standard practice.
