The Democratic Republic of Congo announced on Saturday (13/6) that confirmed cases of the Ebola virus reached 710, following 21 new cases recorded in the last 24 hours. According to government data, 149 patients have lost their lives since the outbreak began.
The World Health Organization (WHO) warned on Friday that the epidemic in the eastern part of the country continues to expand, as the number of cases increases and spread is recorded in new geographical areas.
In the DRC, health systems have been weakened and security challenges persist, making the response to the epidemic “particularly difficult,” according to the WHO, which emphasized that the country nonetheless has experience managing Ebola, especially in the areas currently affected.
