Israeli officials expressed surprise at Donald Trump’s announcements regarding an agreement with Iran. Earlier on Thursday (11/06), the American president announced that the deal with Iran is almost ready, with only signatures remaining, at a time and place to be announced soon. Israeli officials stated they are waiting to see “what the Iranians will publish” to verify if the claims are accurate.
Israel has not been informed about finalization of US-Iran agreement
Specifically, speaking to i24News, two Israeli officials stated: “We are surprised by Trump’s announcement. We need to wait and see what the Iranians publish to determine if it’s accurate.”
Meanwhile, a senior Israeli official told Israeli Channel 12 that Jerusalem has not been informed about the finalization of any agreement between the US and Iran.
Trump: We have a deal with Iran, I’m canceling the bombings
Donald Trump canceled the scheduled US attacks and bombings against Iran that were set for tonight, announcing that an agreement is very close. However, as the American president noted in his post on Thursday afternoon (11/06), the naval blockade “will remain in full effect until the agreement is finalized, with the time and place of signing to be announced soon.”
“Based on the fact that discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran have reached the highest level of Iranian leadership and have been approved, I, as President of the United States of America, have canceled the scheduled strikes and bombings against Iran that were set for tonight.
The discussions and final points of the agreement have been approved, both in principle and in great detail, by all involved parties, including the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt and others. The naval blockade will remain in full effect until this agreement is finalized. The time and place of signing will be announced soon,” Trump noted.
