U.S. military operations against Iranian targets began late Wednesday evening, according to information reported by journalist Barak Ravid, citing a high-ranking U.S. government source. The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that American forces launched new self-defense operations, striking a series of targets in Iran. According to the announcement, the attacks were carried out on orders from U.S. President Donald Trump, while being presented as a response to what Washington describes as continued and unjustified aggression from Tehran.

Second consecutive day of US strikes on Iran
Regions of Iran are on high alert, according to the Mehr agency, which reports that air defense systems were activated in western Tehran. Meanwhile, Iranian media report explosions at multiple locations across the country, including southern cities like Sirik and Minab, Bandar Abbas, Qeshm Island, and Gorgan.

Meanwhile, the explosion recorded earlier in Fars province is attributed, according to the same sources, to the activation of air defense outside urban areas, without further clarification being provided.
Pete Hegseth: CENTCOM “will have a lot of work tonight”
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth earlier hinted at new escalation in relations with Iran, announcing that American armed forces are preparing for strong strikes against Iranian targets during the night. According to his statements, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) “will have a lot of work tonight”, while clarifying that Washington “will hit Iran hard”.

He spoke of strikes on “significant facilities” within Iranian territory, without however providing more information about the nature or location of the targets. At the same time, he emphasized that the planned operations will be “strong and clear” strikes, showing that tensions with Tehran are heading toward further escalation. “Most Iranian missiles don’t hit their targets,” Pete Hegseth stated characteristically.
Trump: New strikes on Iran and harsh warning for the next day
Earlier, Donald Trump had also announced new military action against Iran, claiming that the U.S. “will hit hard again today” against Tehran, while avoiding clarifying whether the strikes would target bridges or energy infrastructure. From the Oval Office, the American president conveyed that “we will attack them, we will attack them very hard“, suggesting that the downing of the American Apache helicopter by an Iranian drone was the trigger for restarting operations. At the same time, he maintained that the U.S. had already carried out strikes the previous day and that these would continue afterward. “We hit them hard yesterday. We’re going to hit them hard again today, and we’ll see what happens with the deal,” he said characteristically. When asked if this means continuing the bombings, he answered positively, linking the decision to the helicopter incident and maintaining that the U.S. acted based on their rights.
