According to CENTCOM, a fighter aircraft struck the oil tanker’s engine room, destroying the navigation system, after the crew allegedly failed to comply with US forces’ orders.
Earlier, India’s Ministry of External Affairs condemned the attack, noting that 21 Indian sailors were rescued, but three others remain missing. The Indian government summoned US Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Jason Miks in New Delhi for an explanation.

Middle East tensions escalate
These events unfold amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. US President Donald Trump launched new threats against Iran during a press conference in the Oval Office, announcing immediate military actions and confirming the escalation between Washington and Tehran.
Trump cited the downing of an American helicopter as justification for resuming bombings. According to him, Washington maintains the absolute right to respond militarily to Tehran’s actions. With an ironic tone, the US President commented that the previous day’s strikes were just the beginning, adding that those following developments would witness new operations. His rhetoric emphasized the conflict’s escalation and America’s commitment to punishing Iran.
