Negotiators from Qatar traveled to Tehran on Wednesday morning (10/06) in a new attempt to de-escalate the crisis between the US and Iran. The initiative by Qatari negotiators comes after an exchange of military strikes that followed American attacks on targets in southern Iran, with the goal of bridging differences between the two countries to finalize an agreement.
Qatari negotiators in Iran after consultations with Washington
According to information cited by Reuters, Qatari officials made a visit to Tehran following consultations with Washington, in an effort to close remaining gaps in negotiations.
The diplomatic activity is recorded just hours after intense military confrontation between the two countries, which was triggered by American strikes on military installations in southern Iran and subsequent Iranian retaliation against American bases in the region.
New Trump threats – “Iran has taken too long to negotiate a deal”
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump sent a new stern message to Tehran through the Truth Social platform. “Iran has taken too long to negotiate a deal and now must pay the price,” he wrote, without providing more details.

Later, in statements to Fox News, he revealed that his administration was “very close to ordering new strikes against energy facilities and bridges in Iran.”
At the same time, he estimated that even if Tehran attempts to rebuild its military capabilities, this would not offer it substantial advantage, while arguing that the country is “rapidly heading toward failure.”
These statements contrast with what he had said just one day earlier, when he claimed that negotiations for a permanent settlement of the conflict were in the “final stages” and could be completed within “two or three days.”
Iran: diplomatic efforts with the US cannot proceed while ceasefire violations continue
However, just hours after his optimistic assessments, American forces announced attacks on targets in southern Iran, which they presented as a response to the downing of an American Apache helicopter on Monday. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that air and naval forces struck command and control centers, air defense systems, and surveillance facilities.
For its part, Iran announced that it responded with attacks against American bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait. On Wednesday morning, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei stated that diplomatic efforts with the United States cannot proceed while ceasefire violations continue.
