Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu launched a fierce attack via social media against Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who earlier accused Israel of threatening Turkey with its military operations in Syria and Lebanon.
“He oppresses his own people and imprisons political opponents”
Benjamin Netanyahu, in his social media post, emphasized that “the antisemitic dictator Erdogan, who is committing genocide against the Kurds, supports the Hamas terrorist organization, oppresses his own people and imprisons political rivals, is the last person who can lecture Israel on morality.”
Meanwhile, the Israeli Prime Minister underscored that Israel and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), which he described as “the most moral army in the world,” will continue to act decisively against Iran and the organizations it supports in the region. “Israel and the IDF will continue to act with force against Iran and its proxies, who threaten the Middle East and the entire world,” he said characteristically.

Erdogan’s statements that “triggered” the tension
The fierce confrontation between the two leaders was “triggered” following statements by the Turkish President, who said that Israel’s military operations in Syria and Lebanon have reached a point where they constitute a threat to Turkey as well. Recep Tayyip Erdogan argued that “Israeli aggression” poses a threat to the entire world and must be stopped.
It should be noted that relations between the two countries have been tense for years, with Erdogan being one of the most vocal critics of Israeli policy in the region, particularly in Gaza. Turkish President Erdogan has repeatedly characterized Hamas members as “freedom fighters,” while he has publicly compared Israel to Nazi Germany and Netanyahu to Adolf Hitler.
For its part, Israel systematically accuses the Turkish President of providing political support to Hamas and of hosting organization officials in Turkey. It should be recalled that international human rights organizations and Western governments have periodically criticized Turkey for persecuting political opponents and restricting civil liberties. Ankara has also faced criticism for military operations against Kurdish organizations in Turkey, Syria and Iraq, while rejecting accusations of genocide.
