A tragic ending occurred in a domestic violence incident in the United States, as former Virginia lieutenant governor Justin Fairfax allegedly killed his wife and then took his own life inside their home during the early morning hours of Thursday. According to CNN, authorities found the 47-year-old politician and his wife, Cerina Fairfax, dead at their home in Annandale. As stated by county police chief Kevin Davis, Justin Fairfax initially shot his wife and then committed suicide. At the time of the incident, the couple’s two children were also inside the house, while according to the same reports, the couple was in the process of divorce.

Who was Justin Fairfax who served as Virginia’s lieutenant governor
The Democratic politician had served as lieutenant governor from 2018 to 2022 in Virginia. In 2019, he had been accused by two women of sexual assault, which sparked reactions calling for his resignation. At that time, he denied the allegations and completed his term. Subsequently, he also ran for governor, but lost in the Democratic primary to former Virginia governor Terry McAuliffe in 2021.
