The Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament, Nikitas Kaklamanis, has sent letters of condolence to the President of the Congress of Deputies of the Kingdom of Spain, Francina Armengol Socías, and to the President of the Senate, Pedro Manuel Rollán Ojeda, expressing his profound grief and sincere condolences on behalf of the members of the Hellenic Parliament and himself personally, for the loss of sixty-nine lives — as of this writing — in the tragic train crash that occurred yesterday in the province of Toledo.

On behalf of the members of the Hellenic Parliament and myself personally, I wish to express my sincere condolences and heartfelt solidarity with the families of the victims, as well as with all those suffering in the wake of the train derailment in the province of Toledo.
Words are poor and powerless in the face of such profound loss, human anguish, and unspeakable grief endured by the families of those who lost their lives, as well as by all those affected by this tragic event.
In these darkest of hours, we stand by the side of the people of Spain, and allow me, Madam President, to convey the solidarity and support of the Greek people to the people of Spain in their time of sorrow.
