Georgiadis on Akrita: This is the “misery gang”
In his remarks regarding Elena Akrita’s comments, Mr. Georgiadis stated: “How difficult it must obviously be for this fabulously wealthy woman, who lacks nothing in life, to understand just how valuable Madonna’s visit, posts, and comments were as free promotion for our country and for the millions of workers and employers who depend on the tourism industry.”
He continued: “She effectively gave us free advertising worth millions of euros, and next year people here in Greece will find work because this famous star came to visit. And instead of being happy about all of this, like any reasonable person would be, she found yet another reason to grumble, wallow in misery, and lay blame. This is the ‘misery gang’… good riddance, once and for all!”

Elena Akrita’s post about Madonna’s visit to Corfu
It is worth recalling that Ms. Akrita had written in a post earlier that day, on Saturday, August 22: “According to a report, residents in Kouramades, Corfu, were asked to close their windows in order to protect — supposedly — Madonna’s privacy from ‘prying eyes.’ If true, the question isn’t whether she made the request. The question is whether people complied. Because this land is not a southern plantation where we bow our heads picking cotton so as not to disturb someone else’s birthday. And instead of saying even one word — just one — about this shameful and disgraceful incident, Mitsotakis only sent her kisses and warm wishes. Close your windows so the tourists aren’t disturbed. Don’t speak up, don’t be a killjoy, don’t complain about the land being sold off, about the environment being sacrificed, about your neighbourhood being turned into a luxury backdrop. Close your windows, turn off the lights, turn off the moon, shut your eyes. And when you open them again, your neighbourhood won’t be here anymore.
I know — more preaching and rhetoric, you’ll say. Well, yes. Less of it.”
