Manolis Christodoulakis has decided to take legal action against the newspaper “Dimokratia,” having already served it with a formal legal notice (extrajudicial statement). The PASOK MP is alleging defamation, describing the published reports as false, slanderous, and entirely unfounded. He specifically takes issue with the characterizations “dauphin” and “Trojan Horse.” According to Christodoulakis, the newspaper’s article implied financial dependency of his family on the government through public contracts awarded to the company “Datamed,” while also alleging behind-the-scenes meetings between him and Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis.
Christodoulakis: Operating legally for 30 years
Manolis Christodoulakis states in his legal notice that “Datamed” has been legally and continuously operating in healthcare IT for 30 years. He further emphasizes that the company participates in transparent public tenders regardless of which government is in power, and asserts that “DATAMED S.A. is completely independent from my involvement in public affairs and the exercise of my parliamentary duties.” He characterizes as “absolutely false and defamatory” the section making “reference to two alleged meetings” with Adonis Georgiadis. He concludes by stressing that “all references” in the newspaper and its website “severely damage my honor and reputation,” adding that “the insinuations of corruption and my dependency on the ruling political party significantly harm my reputation and my political activities.”
He shared the legal notice on Facebook with the following caption: “Legal notice served to ‘Dimokratia’ — now it’s up to the courts. We will not play games,” he wrote in his post.
