Alexis Tsipras has put his contacts with PASOK officials on hold, as he currently does not wish to create even greater tension with Charilaou Trikoupi street and Nikos Androulakis. Thus, contacts with MPs and PASOK officials who wish to follow him are being maintained by ELAS party cadres so that the entire process can be facilitated at the appropriate time.
Tsipras’ organizational plan and formation of ELAS National Council
Meanwhile, Alexis Tsipras is proceeding with the organizational completion of the party. In the coming period, the National Council of the party is expected to be formed, which will consist of the first 300 members of the Greek Left Alliance, while through this body a smaller and more flexible one will emerge. At the same time, the Alexis Tsipras Institute, which is processing the program, will enrich it with positions and views heard in the dialogue conducted through public “consultation” with citizens.
Tsipras tours across Greece begin
The president of the Greek Left Alliance is expected to begin tours and rallies throughout Greece, starting next Monday from Kokkinia. Immediately after, he will visit Western Athens, Athens A’, Thessaloniki A’, Western Macedonia, Western Greece, Thessaly, and during the summer he will spend a significant period in Crete. The former prime minister’s goal is to re-approach the social and professional groups he lost in the 2019 elections, as well as in 2023.
Collaboration scenarios between Achtsoglou and the Greek Left Alliance
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Efi Achtsoglou, who resigned from New Left and as everything indicates will enter politics with Alexis Tsipras – possibly in her birthplace, Pella – expressed the view: “I don’t rule out that Alexis Tsipras will prevail over Kyriakos Mitsotakis.” She added that “I don’t rule it out, I think he has momentum at this moment, he has a programmatic base, it needs specification, because we have only seen general axes, we haven’t seen program specification. Much will be judged there, it will be a catalyst, but this momentum exists and there is also a need. Eight out of ten citizens say they want political change.”
Regarding scenarios of political alignment with Alexis Tsipras, she emphasized that “nothing is given at this moment.” She mentioned that, politically, the space forming around the former prime minister is closest to her own references, emphasizing however that what takes precedence is the formation of a strong political pole against New Democracy. As she said, such a pole should have both a fully oppositional program, especially on the issue of high prices, and a clear stance in favor of the rule of law, which – as she argued – has suffered blows in recent years.
