Full statement by Dimitris Markopoulos
“With a sense of responsibility and awareness of the duties I undertake, I want to express heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for the honor he bestowed upon me by appointing me Deputy Minister of National Economy & Finance, responsible for tax policy. This honor does not concern me alone. It belongs to the citizens of Piraeus B, who, after several years, see one of their own participating in the government scheme. Greece today has regained its international credibility. It plays a leading role in European economic discussions as a positive example of recovery, having even assumed the presidency of the Eurogroup. It is our duty to ensure that this progress is continuously translated into tangible benefits for Greek women and men who, through their sacrifices, persistence and efforts, stand behind every national and economic success. My main concern is to continue working so that hardworking citizens, small, medium and larger businesses have an increasingly greater dividend of social prosperity through the continuous successes recorded in the field of economy. I am confident that, under the leadership of Minister of National Economy and Finance Mr. Kyriakos Pierrakakis and in close cooperation with Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Mr. Thanos Petralia, we will work productively to strengthen the Greek economy, for the benefit of our citizens and our country“.
