The Polakis– Pappas -Dourou faction in the Central Committee of SYRIZA insists on the party’s descent with other progressive parties, emphasizing that scenarios of self-dissolution or suspension of SYRIZA’s operation are categorically rejected as unhistorical and offensive.
In this context, they are submitting an amendment which will be put to a roll call vote and through which they demand the formation of a progressive forces roundtable to develop a common program for a joint electoral battle. As emphasized in the amendment, in this framework they seek immediate contact with Nikos Kotzias, Louka Katseli, Alexis Tsipras, New Left, as well as officials who collaborated with SYRIZA in the 2015-2019 governance so that all forces can be positioned for electoral battle.
The text signed by seven members of SYRIZA’s Political Secretariat, specifically Tryfon Alexiadis, Rena Dourou, Foteini Karystianaki, Giorgos Panagiotoupoulos, Nikos Pappas and Pavlos Polakis, emphasizes that scenarios of self-dissolution or suspension of SYRIZA’s operation are categorically rejected as unhistorical and offensive.
SYRIZA: The text of the Polakis-Pappas-Dourou amendment
No to self-dissolution. Yes to coordinated collaborations
The country is at a critical crossroads where political change and the formation of a strong progressive pole against the Right constitutes the only alternative way out. SYRIZA-PS, with its history, struggles and democratic culture, cannot be a passive observer of developments nor a temporary waiting station.
Scenarios of self-dissolution, dissolution or suspension of our operation are rejected as unhistorical and offensive.
SYRIZA-PS will be present in the next day, implementing conference decisions, participating in electoral battles as a coordinated party and not through individual agreements or “lending” of officials.
For the cancellation of isolation and democratic collapse, we adopt a roadmap with a clear goal.
The formation of a “roundtable” of coordinated forces, for the development of a common program, battle formation and joint electoral descent.
In this framework, we seek immediate contact with Nikos Kotzias, Louka Katseli, Alexis Tsipras, New Left and officials who collaborated with us in the 2015-2019 governance.
We welcome Nikos Kotzias’ letter as a positive contribution to the effort to form the progressive pole, which can serve as a basis for discussion about the unity of the space.
We are not entering “winter hibernation” or summer lethargy, on the contrary, we are redeploying all our party forces in electoral battle position.
To ensure a strong presence, we immediately proceed to:
• Formation and operation of the Executive Office, according to the constitution, which will undertake the implementation of the roadmap.
• Formation of a ballot committee, expansion and formation of progressive pole.
• Formation of a program committee.
• Formation of an electoral organizational committee.
We repeat, as in the central committee decision of March, that we will proceed with those who want and can in a path of electoral cooperation and reconstruction, with SYRIZA-PS in a leading, creative, synthetic and accelerating role in developments.
