The Political Council of PASOK made decisive decisions focusing on strategy for gaining power, in a session characterized by intense confrontations and implications, as recent polling trends are causing concern within the party.

Androulakis: Red lines for PASOK on cooperation with New Democracy and SYRIZA
PASOK president Nikos Androulakis clarified the party’s political line, ruling out any possibility of cooperation with both New Democracy and Alexis Tsipras’s SYRIZA. He clearly emphasized that political change cannot be achieved with forces that have never apologized for their choices against citizens, nor with those who have been tainted by corruption.

Indirectly responding to Athens Mayor Haris Doukas and his statements about possible cooperation, Androulakis emphasized that congress decisions are irrevocable and do not need interpretations, explanations or reservations that question the basic message. He meaningfully added that citizens are not interested in political deals and personal ambitions.
The PASOK president called on the party to fight with unity and clear stance for political change, emphasizing that the time has come for the democratic camp to take a leading role in the next national elections.
PASOK: Doukas message for dialogue and accusations of character assassination
For his part, Haris Doukas emphasized that he respects the party’s autonomous course, a remark that some Political Council members interpreted as an innuendo toward Anna Diamantopoulou. The Athens mayor sent a message to Nikos Androulakis, stating that he remains faithful to congress decisions, but emphasizing that dialogue should not be taboo.

At the same time, Doukas denounced that New Democracy is attempting to destroy his character through slanderous attacks. He reiterated his position on the need for dialogue in the progressive space, noting that the proposal for progressive governance represents his steadfast conviction that does not change according to persons and circumstances.
Shadow cabinet: Eight public policy circles
PASOK’s Political Council decided to form a shadow cabinet with eight public policy circles, in order to strengthen the party’s programmatic and opposition action. These circles correspond to critical areas of government policy and related ministries.

The initiative to create a shadow cabinet came from Anna Diamantopoulou and was implemented by Nikos Androulakis, aiming to highlight the positive work of the Political Council and prevent polls and internal party confrontations from dominating. Through the shadow cabinet, Androulakis aims to convey the message that PASOK constitutes a ready and credible alternative governance solution. It is worth noting that Haris Doukas was not included in the shadow cabinet composition.
A political coordination team was appointed to each circle, consisting of members from the Parliamentary Group, the Political Council and the Movement’s Policy Sectors.
Mission and objectives of political coordination teams
The political coordination teams have a specific mission that includes:
- Systematic monitoring, evaluation and deconstruction of government policy
- Promotion and specification of PASOK’s programmatic positions
- Coordination of parliamentary, political and social initiatives
- Activation of all party forces at central and regional level
The teams collaborate with the heads of Parliamentary Work Sectors, corresponding Policy Sectors, party organs and Movement executives. The goal is to formulate unified political intervention, strengthen PASOK’s social presence and develop initiatives that connect the program with citizens’ real needs and concerns.
