Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis focused on energy and inflation issues during a discussion at the conference “Investing in Change: How Crete is Being Transformed,” organized by The Economist in collaboration with powergame.gr in Chania.
“We’re not getting anywhere with these energy prices,” the Prime Minister emphasized during the discussion, adding: “We need to invest more in networks. Greece is a net exporter of energy. That’s how the market works.”
“My goal is to leave behind a legacy where debt is sustainable,” Mitsotakis stressed, speaking about inflation and citizens facing difficulties.
“We have elections ahead of us and a lot of work to do. We must leave behind everything that feeds populism. Prices are skyrocketing as a result of the war. When we think about the state, it’s also about people, the politicians who make decisions. Trust is needed and this happens through accountability. I don’t think elections are won based on the past – if there’s consistency between words and actions, people trust you,” the Prime Minister concluded.
