Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis is traveling to Limassol to participate in the informal meeting of European Union member states’ foreign ministers “Gymnich,” which is being held under the Cypriot presidency. The discussions are expected to focus on developments in the broader Middle East, the war in Ukraine, as well as European security strategy, during a period of intense geopolitical realignments and heightened concerns about regional stability.
The meeting also includes, as guests of the Cypriot presidency, Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, and Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
Gerapetritis: Meeting with US congressional delegation
Earlier, Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis met with a delegation from the US Congress, led by Republican Trent Kelly, chairman of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee of the House Armed Services Committee.
According to a related announcement from the Foreign Ministry, the talks focused on bilateral relations and the strategic partnership between Greece and the United States. International developments were also discussed, with emphasis on the Eastern Mediterranean, the broader Middle East, and maritime security issues.
During the meeting, the role of the Greek diaspora in further strengthening Greek-American relations was also highlighted.
