Regarding the case of the murder of 21-year-old Nikitas Gemistou by 54-year-old Kostas Parasyris in Crete, Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis spoke on Parapolitika 90.1 radio show “Apenanti mikrofona,” with hosts Vasilis Skouris and Sotiris Xenakis, noting that the police did everything they were supposed to do. The tragedy occurred in Ammodara, Heraklion, where 21-year-old Nikitas was executed by the 54-year-old father of his friend, who had lost his life in a traffic accident three years earlier.
Chrysochoidis: The prosecutor’s office ordered the release of the 54-year-old who had been trying to harm the 21-year-old for a long time
Speaking on Parapolitika 90.1, Chrysochoidis made pointed comments about the prosecutor’s office handling of the case, saying: “The murderer had been trying to harm the 21-year-old for a long time. When the restraining measures were violated, the competent police department did what it had to do, notifying the prosecutor’s office. However, it gave orders to release the father. So the police did what they could.”
“There’s nothing worse than losing your child, but what did the parents gain by killing another child?” Chrysochoidis wondered, while emphasizing that we must primarily look at behavioral issues concerning our children.
