In Eurovision and… Akulas rhythm was the post by Kyriakos Mitsotakis for May Day. Through his social media post and… “before seeing if Akulas will deliver”, Kyriakos Mitsotakis reminded everyone of all the measures that the government is already implementing with the goal of substantially supporting workers. Among other things, he referenced the minimum wage increase – which from April 1st amounts to 920 euros, while in 2019 it amounted to 650 euros – the significant reduction in unemployment, the unfreezing of three-year increments, as well as the restoration of collective agreements.
More specifically, the prime minister stated the following: “Happy May Day! Before seeing if Akulas will deliver, let’s see what we’ve brought workers in recent years:
Minimum wage increase: From 650 euros in 2019 to 920 euros today.
10-point unemployment reduction: That means more than 550,000 new job positions.
Zero tax for young workers under 25 years old and tax reductions for everyone with emphasis on families with children.
Unfreezing of three-year increments after 12 full years, meaning additional salary increases.
Restoration of collective agreements.
Reduction of social security contributions by 5.4 percentage points.
Extension of maternity allowance in the private sector from 6 to 9 months.
And perhaps the most important: Digital work card for almost 2 million workers so that the hours you work are actually recorded.
You certainly can’t call these few measures. Because today you’ll hear many easy slogans for show and many unenforceable proposals, we respond with our work,” the prime minister stated.
