Numerous findings revealing the violent intentions of the two young suspects who attacked a 32-year-old man in Elefsina and face charges of attempted murder were discovered at the home of one of the accused. The items found include knives, brass knuckles, balaclavas, a gas mask, as well as books and printed material with neo-Nazi content. The latter is particularly striking, as the 22-year-old is allegedly a member of a neo-Nazi organization. Among the materials seized were a book titled “National Socialism – A Handbook for Nationalist Training”, pamphlets signed by the Autonomous Nationalist Youth of Athens, and flyers bearing anti-anarchist slogans.
“I’m a fascist” and “slash him”: what the attacker shouted during the Elefsina assault
The 22-year-old suspect turned himself in to police on Friday evening (09/10), while the search continues for his 18-year-old accomplice. Audiovisual footage from the television program “Developments Now” has emerged, capturing the moments of the attack — believed to have been politically motivated — which took place on Thursday, October 8, 2026. In the chilling video, one of the attackers can be clearly heard declaring “I’m a fascist,” followed by the command “slash him.”
It was just after 4:00 p.m. on Konstantinoupoleos Street in Elefsina when security cameras captured a 32-year-old man walking his two dogs. Dressed in a white T-shirt, he was calmly heading home in broad daylight, with traffic flowing normally on the street.
A red car pulls up across from the victim, followed closely by a motorcycle carrying two individuals. One is wearing a white helmet, while the other’s facial features are not clearly visible. The car then drives away, and the two young men dismount the motorcycle and appear to confront the man in the white T-shirt.
The 32-year-old tried to continue on his way, but the two attackers stayed close behind him, repeatedly blocking his path. The situation escalated rapidly when one of the assailants, wearing a white helmet, cut him off again and began shoving him, pushing the confrontation toward the main road.
The violent brawl, the stabbing, and the escape
Shortly after 4:00 p.m., the attackers cornered the victim again, with verbal aggression reaching a breaking point. After one of them openly declared “I’m a fascist,” the verbal confrontation turned physical. The 32-year-old grappled with the helmeted attacker at the very moment the cry of “slash him” rang out — and the knife strike landed. Immediately after the attack, the injured victim managed to pull himself up from the ground near some rubbish bins and limped away, while the two assailants continued to hurl abuse at him before mounting their motorcycle and fleeing the scene.
“This is how they tried to kill me” – The 32-year-old victim speaks out
Speaking to Mega from his hospital bed, the 32-year-old victim showed his wounds to the camera. The man, who sustained stab wounds to the thigh, has filed a report describing what he calls a premeditated murder attempt.
According to Mega, the 22-year-old claims that the 32-year-old attacked him first, pointing to a cut on his lower lip as evidence, and insists his actions were retaliation for a previous assault he allegedly suffered on August 29, carried out by a group in which the current victim played a leading role.
A timeline of the attack in Elefsina
The bloody incident unfolded at 4:20 p.m. on Thursday on Konstantinoupoleos Street, when the two young men attacked and stabbed the 32-year-old in the thigh. The victim — a gym owner well known in the area for his anti-fascist activism — was initially taken to the Elefsina Health Centre and later transferred to Tzaneio Hospital.
Recounting the harrowing moments on radio station Mega News 104.6, the 32-year-old said: “I told them — I didn’t think they had come for a murder attempt like this, just to shout and show off. I told them, come on, calm down a bit. I said, people live in flats nearby, it’s the middle of the day, you’re shouting — come on, move along. They moved. They kept it up. And while they were talking to me — one had a helmet on, the other didn’t — the first one attacked me. The moment he attacked me, I’m not going to lie, I didn’t just stand there and take it. I put him on the ground. He started calling to his friend: ‘Get him, get him, slash him.'”
He went on to describe how he was clearly targeted for political reasons: “One of them said to me: I’m so-and-so… I’m a fascist and I run things around here. I won’t repeat the rest. In the end, he was the one who attacked me first. He was also the one who ended up on the ground telling the other one to stab me. I asked him: why did you come after me and not someone else? He answered: you’ve been a leftist and an anti-racist for years. We know who you are — you’re the one we came for.”
According to the charges, it was the 18-year-old — who was wearing a helmet and organizational insignia — who delivered the knife blow. The victim concluded: “Since they’re fascists, that’s what they do — for no other reason, since we all know what they are. They’re knife-wielding murderers. And right outside someone’s home, just like that… they have no shame. They said it themselves — they told us exactly what they are.”
