Astros Kynouria: Timeline of the disappearance and discovery
According to information released by the Tripoli Animal Welfare Association, the dog had been spayed, was microchipped as required by law, and had a registered owner. The animal had gone missing the previous evening, with its owner conducting a search throughout the night. The search came to a tragic end the following afternoon, when the owner found his pet dead in the garbage.
The police investigation is focusing on how the animal came to be in the neighbor’s possession, as well as why neither the owner nor the relevant authorities were notified.
What the autopsy reveals
Initial findings from the forensic examination do not indicate strangulation as the cause of death. As a result, samples were collected and sent for toxicological analysis to determine whether the animal was poisoned.
For his part, the man captured on the security footage has told authorities that he found the dog already dead outside his home and subsequently decided to dispose of it by placing it in the trash bin.
