The three individuals arrested in connection with the deadly arson attack that claimed the life of Vagia Nestora were brought before the Thessaloniki Courthouse on Thursday. The suspects were transported to the examining magistrate’s office through the building’s underground parking facility, as a solidarity rally was underway outside the main entrance.
A crowd of anarchist and anti-establishment activists had gathered at the scene to show support for the three detainees, who were expected to be brought before the public prosecutor. To prevent any incidents, a large contingent of riot police (MAT) was deployed around the perimeter of the courthouse.
According to authorities, the suspects are alleged to have been involved in the arson attacks of July 1st targeting the homes of ruling New Democracy party officials — attacks in which Vagia Nestora was killed and four others were injured, including her daughter. Sources indicate that the accused were already known to law enforcement from previous cases, while the 26-year-old female suspect is reportedly said to have been arrested more than 30 times and to have previously served prison sentences.
Meanwhile, police searches are continuing at apartments in Thessaloniki and other parts of the country, with investigators working to locate and arrest at least three more individuals believed to be connected to the case.
