Kallithea: Official police announcement
The Sub-Directorate for Combating Organized Sports Violence, operating under the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, has solved a case involving the murder of a minor, which was carried out following a brawl with a football hooligan background on the night of Wednesday, June 24, 2026, in the Kallithea area.
In connection with the case, a total of 17 individuals were identified, seven of whom were arrested. An additional 18 people — parents of the underage suspects — were included in the case file on charges of neglecting the supervision of a minor, in violation of sports and weapons legislation.
The incident was preceded by a verbal altercation, which then escalated into a large-scale brawl involving three groups of young people in the Kallithea area. The confrontation was marked by fierce attacks from all sides, with the use of knives, rocks, collapsible metal rods, and other objects.

During the brawl, members of one of the groups chased a minor, which led to a second incident. As a result, one minor sustained serious injuries and died a few hours later in hospital.
An extensive investigation and on-site inspection of the scene was subsequently conducted by the Special Investigations Unit of the Sub-Directorate for Combating Organized Sports Violence, in cooperation with the Forensic Investigations Directorate. Biological material was collected and all preliminary investigative data was analyzed, leading to the identification of the alleged perpetrator of the murder, who was arrested in the early morning hours of the following day.
As established, the motive behind the attack was linked both to prior incidents between those involved and to football hooligan rivalries.
As the preliminary investigation progressed and all gathered evidence was cross-evaluated, an additional 16 involved individuals were identified, six of whom were arrested.
In total, searches carried out at the suspects’ homes and at the scene of the incident resulted in the discovery and seizure of the following items, among others:
– Folding knives, screwdrivers, batons, and brass knuckles
– A protective helmet
– Spray paint canisters
– Ammunition of various calibers
– Mobile phones
– Clothing worn by those involved during the brawl
– Scarves, banners, stickers, and other hooligan-related material
The arrested individuals — with the exception of one who remains hospitalized under police guard — were brought before the competent prosecutorial authority.
