Doctors and paramedics from EKAB (Greece’s National Emergency Medical Service) were called to respond to a critical situation on Wednesday (24/6) in Thessaloniki, where a 55-year-old man suffered a severe allergic reaction after being stung by a bee while working at a beehive.

Immediate mobilization to address the severity of the situation
The 55-year-old man was at a beehive when he was stung, and according to a report by thestival, he immediately developed symptoms of anaphylactic shock and lost consciousness. EKAB was alerted without delay and dispatched units on an emergency basis. Both an EKAB ambulance and a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) from EKAB Thessaloniki, staffed with a specialist physician, rushed to the scene.
Stabilized and transferred to hospital
The man’s condition was considered serious; however, according to the report, it progressed favorably thanks to the swift reflexes and professionalism of the emergency responders. The timely application of established treatment protocols and the immediate administration of the appropriate medication by both medical and paramedical personnel led to a reversal of the critical condition and the restoration of the patient’s consciousness.
Once doctors successfully stabilized his vital signs, the 55-year-old was safely transferred to the city’s on-call hospital for further monitoring and medical care.
