Investigations continue into the double murder in Aigio that shocked all of Greece, after a 54-year-old mother and her 26-year-old son were found dead inside their home in Longos. The mother reportedly sustained a total of 20 stab wounds to her body, while her 26-year-old son suffered 5 stab wounds and a fatal blow to the temple from a flobert-type firearm. It is recalled that the 65-year-old Italian partner of the woman has been remanded in custody in connection with the case. He denies any involvement and claims that on the night of the killings, June 9th, he was asleep in the living room and heard nothing. Meanwhile, no fingerprints were found on either the weapon or the murder knife, and no gunpowder residue was detected on the 65-year-old’s hands — findings that appear to work in the Italian suspect’s favor. Nevertheless, relatives and friends of the victims say they are outraged and insist that the Italian man is responsible for the horrific crime.

Double murder in Aigio: “He had hours to clean everything up,” say victims’ relatives about the Italian suspect
Relatives of the unfortunate victims spoke on the television program Exelixeis Tora (“Developments Now”), expressing certainty about the 65-year-old’s guilt. “I insist it was him. Since he had so many hours, he would have gotten rid of everything,” said the niece of the 54-year-old victim, speaking on the Mega channel program.
It is noted that no blood was found on either the underwear or the towel belonging to the Italian suspect, which had been discovered hanging in the back yard. Nevertheless, authorities continue to comb through both the interior and exterior of the property, mapping every location, every possible route, and every trace that could lead to solving the mystery.
The grandmother of the 26-year-old victim stated: “He cleaned everything up, he left nothing behind. He was inside for 7 hours, alone — he brought in an accomplice too, who knows who else he had in there. He threw out buckets, mops, brooms, he cleaned everything up and then put the knife underneath afterwards.”
Regarding the possibility of the 65-year-old being acquitted, the victim’s grandmother added: “So they’re going to let him go now — and who committed the crime then? This theory that they killed each other on their own is impossible. It was a knife, and you can’t kill yourself with a knife unless you cut your own throat. The mattress was covered in stab wounds. You don’t say ‘ouch,’ you don’t call for help? What is all this — these crazy things they’re telling us?” said the 26-year-old’s grandmother.
“I have filed as a civil plaintiff — we’ll settle this in court,” says the 54-year-old’s sister
“My lawyer, whom I called because he has now also received the case file — he needs to review it and will also be looking at some other documents that have come in that he hasn’t been briefed on yet. He’ll receive everything and I’ll have a full update tomorrow. Whatever he says, I have now filed as a civil plaintiff and we will take this to court — this cannot stand. That’s why I’m not speaking publicly anymore — this matter is no longer a circus,” said the sister of the 54-year-old victim.
“The family is devastated and Maria’s sister cannot come to terms with it — she cannot believe that this man did such a thing. Just imagine, he seemed like such a calm person, such a kind man. Even the relatives cannot believe he did this,” said a local resident.
Investigation into the double murder in Aigio intensifies — crime scene house sealed off
It is noted that an informal wire-mesh gate connecting the double murder house to a neighboring bakery owned by Maria’s uncle was discovered following an extensive police search of the area. Additionally, by court order, the house where the double murder took place has been officially sealed, as authorities press on with their investigation in an effort to unravel the full truth behind the case.
