The large-scale NATO exercise “Ramstein Flag 26,” featuring Rafale and F-16 jets, has concluded — with Greece playing a notable role. The major air exercise, conducted under the coordination of NATO’s Allied Air Command (AIRCOM), wrapped up on Friday, June 19. According to an announcement by the Hellenic Air Force General Staff (HAF), the exercise was carried out simultaneously across two Joint Operation Areas (JOAs): northern Europe, hosted by Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland, and southern Europe, hosted by Spain.
Who participated in the NATO exercise
Air forces from 18 allied nations took part in the exercise, carrying out complex air operation scenarios at a tactical level. The Hellenic Air Force participated with a detachment of 4 Rafale aircraft from the 332 Squadron of the 114 Combat Wing, which deployed to Evenes Air Base in the Kingdom of Norway, as well as 4 F-16 aircraft from the 337 Squadron of the 110 Combat Wing, which deployed to Los Llanos Air Base in Albacete, Spain.

Throughout the exercise, the Greek contingent took part in demanding operational scenarios and joint training activities alongside allied air forces, with the goal of practicing the planning and execution of air operations and applying Alliance procedures and tactics, the announcement added. “Ramstein Flag” represents AIRCOM’s newest exercise series, providing an advanced multi-domain operations training environment with a focus on countering modern and emerging threats. The Hellenic Air Force’s participation in the exercise contributed to further strengthening operational readiness, interoperability, and the capacity for combined action with Allied Air Forces, the statement concluded.
