A silent mourning “covered” Longos village in Aigio today, Saturday (13/06), where around 12:30 the funeral service was completed for Maria and Olympios, the mother and son who were murdered last Tuesday at their home. Dozens of relatives, friends, and village residents who cannot comprehend what happened gathered at the Church of Saint Dimitrios. “I’ve known Maria for over 25 years. I’ve known her husband for the last five years. I can’t believe it. I never saw them fight, they were loving, and Maria never told me anything,” said a man with a broken voice.

The same person later admitted that “no one knows what happens inside a home, when a door closes no one knows what happens inside.” At that point, he said the only thing he knows is that the 65-year-old Italian had invested money in the house where they were living: “Marco had put money to fix the house they were living in now. I had worked on the house too and Marco gave me most of my wages. Now if he asked for money from the property I can’t know that.”
Another woman, in a sharper tone, noted: “She was such a sweet soul. How could he do it? And not regret it? Not repent? I mean, to sin and not say ‘I did it, forgive me.’ May God have mercy on him. Two beloved children are gone. Our little Maria and Olympios, the sweetest child, a fine young man over two meters tall, very smart and such a good boy.”
